Our Animals

Chowder

We rescued Chowder in January of 2024, after losing our heart dogs. His entire litter had been surrendered to our friends at Lucky Pup Rescue in Greenville, SC. We quickly realized that Chowder was meant for us and we have enjoyed having him after such a monumental loss. He has a bright, energetic personality and never has a bad day. According to his DNA, he is predominantly border collie/great pyrenees cross with 1% chihuahua!

Hershey

Hershey was rescued in May 2023 from an auction and came to live at Final Run Rescue. He is a miniature horse with dwarfism. This genetic condition causes him daily stiffness, joint swelling, difficulty moving, and he was born with a severe underbite. Hershey is considered our most extensive medical case, but we can’t imagine life without him. His size does not define his heart, he is the sweetest boy and loves taking a nap in our laps.

Baby Ruth

Ruthie was rescued in February 2024; she was a day old when she came to us due to abandonment from her mom. She is a Nubian goat and immediately found comfort in Hershey. They have developed the sweetest relationship, and we are grateful to have her as our resident farm greeter.

Sprout

Sprouty was the first goat we ever rescued. She had been surrendered to the ER animal hospital Fran was helping at. She was a week old then and has called FRR her home for the last several years. She is the alpha of our goat herd and you’ll often find her bossing everyone else around.

Spriggy

Spriggy was abandoned in a card board box at a gas station. After her rescue, she immediately found friendship in Sprout. Her favorite past time is laying in the sunshine.

Sundae

We rescued Sundae in 2023, from a hoarding case. She was a week old and spend the winter learning about life inside our home, with our dogs. Sundae is full of spirit and spunk, she loves to climb and you’ll often see her jumping off troughs and her favorite, walking on top of any wooden plank she can find.

Snickers

One of our original rescues-Snickers was at an auction as a four-month-old baby. When we were notified, we immediately knew we wanted to bring her home, as auctions are the worst places for babies of any species. Snickers rules the kingdom here, she is the alpha of the rescue crew and best friend of Korba, our livestock guardian dog. Snickers loves reminding everyone she’s in charge and coercing Korba to share his dog food with her.

Waffles

We got Waffles as a six-month-old baby. She came bonded to another pregnant jenny we rescued, although not her mother. Waffles is our resident Eeyore, she is quiet, affectionate and always a shadow nearby.

Juniper

Juniper came to FRR pregnant and in need of quality care and nutrition. She was rescued by our mentor, who runs Maples Mini Donkeys in Florida, and donated to us to live out the remainder of her life. Juniper gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in May 2024 and enjoys rolling around in the dirt.

Ella

Our resident “old lady,” Ella is our oldest donkey at 18+ years. Ella’s owner had suffered a stroke, leaving a donkey herd in need of proper care. We are grateful her owners entrusted us with her and her friends, where they now spend their days roaming pastures and enjoying the sunshine.

Maximus

When we met Max, we immediately bonded. He is one of four donkeys we rescued, whose owner had suffered a stroke. He is the sweetest boy and loves scratches. If you sit in the field, you can always count on Max to come over and say hello.

Scarlett

Our “potato with legs,” Scarlett came with Maximus, Ella and Scarlett. She is spunky, full of personality and bound to make you laugh

Midnight

The quietest of the bunch, Midnight came with her friends to FRR to seek out a good life with proper nutrition. Midnight suffered from obesity when she came to us, so we have been working on helping her achieve a healthier diet and lifestyle.

Maggie

Maggie was rescued from the confinement of a small pen, with no exposure to grass or extensive sunshine. She had been kept roughly two years in these conditions, being fed hog grower feed. We rescued her in December of 2023, where she was incredibly scared and timid. There were many “firsts” for Maggie. First time on a trailer, being haltered, being removed from the place she was raised and then her first time in an open pasture. Since her arrival, Maggie’s personality has blossomed. She is the first to greet guests and acts like a cat-you can expect to receive a good body rub from Maggie or even a very personal hug.
